The lipid peroxidation was measured by the formation of thiobarbituric acid reacting substances (TBARS). The 2 mL of 15% w/v trichloroacetic acid, 0.375% w/v thiobarbituric acid, and 0.25 N HCl was added to 1 mL plasma sample and kept in boiling water bath for 15 min and then centrifuged at 2, 000 rpm for 10 min. The supernatant was collected and the absorbance was read at 535 nm against the reagent blank assuming the molar extinction coefficient to be 1.56 × 105.
