Takens’ theorem states that it is possible to construct characteristically identical copies of a dynamic system using a number of time-delayed copies of the trajectory evolution of a single point in that system59. Since it has been suggested that the Wolf algorithm is particularly susceptible to the effects of noise, we applied a zero phase 5th order low pass Butterworth filter, with a cut off frequency of 50 Hz. All calculations were performed in Matlab R2019b (The MathWorks, Natick, MA). SaEn and MaxLyE calculations were completed with the help of the University of Nebraska at Omaha Biomechanics Nonlinear Analysis Toolbox (UNO Biomechanics 2019, https://www.mathworks.com/matlabcentral/fileexchange/71907-uno-biomechanics-nonlinear-analysis-toolbox).
