Nasal mucosa of 18 patients was obtained. The mucosal samples were washed and cut into 0.5 × 0.5 sized pieces. The samples were then cultured in 6-well cell culture plates and stabilized in an incubator at 5% CO2, 100% humidity, and 37 °C for 24 hours. The cultured nasal mucosa samples were exposed to normoxia and IH conditions. These resultant cell cultures were used for histological examination and to measure the CBF after exposure to IH.
