Crystal violet cell viability assay

To document cell viability after 6-day treatments, AECs and AMCs were seeded in a 12-well plate and treated as described above. After 6 days, cells were washed with 1× PBS, fixed with 4% paraformaldehyde for 15 min, washed with water, and stained with 0.1% crystal violet for 20 min. After 20 min, cells are washed and allowed to dry, and 10% acetic acid were added to each well. A 1:4 dilution of the colored supernatant was measured at an absorbance of 590 nm.
