TrioC∆C crystals were grown at 20°C using hanging drop vapor diffusion in 24-well VDX plates (Hampton Research). The drop contained 2 μl of protein (2 mg/ml) mixed with 2 μl of well solution containing 100 mM Hepes (pH 7.5) and 14% polyethylene glycol 3350 and 1 μl of double-distilled H2O. Crystals grew over a course of 2 days and took the form of three-dimensional plates of about 25 μm by 100 μm by 300 μm. Crystals were transferred directly from the drop with nylon cryoloops and plunged into liquid N2 for data collection.
