Particle size and concentration of the liquid-phase EV and the MBV were calculated using a NanoSight (NS300) instrument equipped with fast video capture and particle-tracking software. Samples were diluted 1:500 to a final volume of 1000 μl using particle-free water. A syringe pump was used to dispense the sample into the system. Measurements were performed from three captures of 45 s each sample. For the video processing and particle calculation, the detection threshold was adjusted to 4. Data are presented as concentration versus particle size for each of the evaluated samples.
