Sensitivity analysis of the model parameters
This protocol is extracted from research article:
Nanoscale integrin cluster dynamics controls cellular mechanosensing via FAKY397 phosphorylation

Procedure

The sensitivity value S of Na and Ma to a parameter p is defined in Eq. 13, where p is the base parameter value, Na is the average integrin cluster size, and Ma is the cluster number at the base parameter value$S1=dlog(Na)dlog(p),S2=dlog(Ma)dlog(p)$(13)

The S value is equivalent to the slope of Na and Ma versus p on a log-log plot and represents the fold change in Na and Ma resulting from a fold change in a parameter value. The S value was calculated by plotting Na and Ma at 0.1-, 0.3-, 1-, 3-, and 10-fold changes of the base parameter on a log-log scale. A line was fitted to the data points with the slope of the line taken to be the S value. For some parameters (such as integrin density, diffusion constant), the allowable range did not allow for the extreme fold changes, so in these cases, the maximum or minimum fold change of the parameter was used to calculate the sensitivity instead.
