The synthetic methods for P2W17Mtrans nanowires were similar to those of P2W17Ln nanowires except for the pH values of the POM solution, which were K8P2W17TiO61 (pH 5.5), K7P2W17VO62 (pH 4.0), K7P2W17CrO61 (pH 10.0), K8P2W17MnO61 (pH 4.6), K8P2W17CoO61 (pH 4.0), K8P2W17NiO61 (pH 3.8), K8P2W17CuO61 (pH 4.0), and K8P2W17ZnO61 (pH 4.5). In particular, for the synthesis of P2W17V nanowires, 330 mg of K7P2W17VO62, 50 mg of KAc, and 40 mg of ascorbic acid were dissolved in 20 ml of deionized water to reduce V(V) into V(IV). Other synthetic parameters were the same with those of P2W17Ln nanowires.
