All electrochemical experiments were performed on a potentiostat/galvanostat (WMPG 1000, WonATech Co., Korea). A three-electrode setup was used with a glassy carbon disk electrode (working electrode: electrode diameter, 3 mm), Ag/AgCl electrode (reference electrode; 3 M NaCl), and a platinum wire (counter electrode) in a single cell. The glassy carbon disk electrode was always polished using 1, 0.3, and 0.05 μm of deagglomerated alumina suspensions before electrochemical analysis. On the basis of the following equations (Eqs. 4 and 5) (40), we measured the formal potential of ferrocene and onset potentials of NAD+ to estimate LUMO and HOMO energy levels of NAD+ELUMO=(Eonset,redEformal+5.06)eV(4)EHOMO=(Eonset,oxEformal+5.06)eV(5)

Note that Eonset,red is the onset potential of NAD+ reduction, Eonset,ox is that of NAD+ oxidation, and Eformal is the formal potential of ferrocene. The electrolyte solution consisted of acetonitrile (containing 100 mM TBAPF6)/sodium phosphate buffer (100 mM, pH 7.5) (v/v, 1:1).
