Species-conserved edges, for the purposes of this analysis, were defined as those found above the aforementioned 5% ligand and receptor expression threshold in human and in at least one other species. Statistically significant species-conversed edges were then defined as those with a Fisher’s cross-species combined P value of <0.05. Single-species P values were generated as described in the “Statistical analysis” section.
