Average gene expression was calculated for each FB subtype. Next, each subtype expression was normalized to 10,000 to create TPM-like values, followed by transforming to log2(TPM + 1). Log-transformed values for the union of the top 60 genes expressed in each cell cluster were used to perform hierarchical clustering by pheatmap in R using Euclidean distance measures for clustering.
