Participants completed the survey online and were told to “consider the undergraduate students you teach (or have taught) at [the university] when responding to these questions.” Faculty mindset beliefs were measured with two items (i.e., “To be honest, students have a certain amount of intelligence, and they really can’t do much to change it”; “Your intelligence is something about you that you can’t change very much”; α = 0.91) on a 1 (strongly agree) to 6 (strongly disagree) scale. Higher scores on the faculty mindset belief measure represented a more growth mindset. Teaching experience was measured with one item (“How many years have you been teaching in your field?”). Participants were asked to provide their gender, race/ethnicity, and age. Tenure status was collected from university records.
