Recombinant Aβ (1-40, 1-42, 1-42 scrambled) Ultra-Pure, Ammonium Hydroxide (rProtein) was prepared as 0.2 mM stock solutions in 1% NaNH4. Aβ peptides were added to P. gingivalis cultures at a final concentration of 20 mM and kept at 37°C under anaerobic conditions for 24 hours. Cells were washed in PBS and stained with the LIVE/DEAD BacLight Bacterial Viability Kit (Thermo Fisher Scientific) according to the manufacturer’s protocol. Fluorescence intensity was quantified on a PerkinElmer Envision Plate reader.
