We based our analysis on a set of 5349 spatial data layers collected from different sources and in different formats. This dataset was composed of 5344 range maps, two threat maps, two governance maps, and a protected area map. All layers were converted to global grids in different resolutions (latitude/longitude coordinate system), with cell sizes of 0.1° (equal to 10 km at the equator), 0.2°, 0.5°, and 1°. Data preprocessing was done using ArcGIS software v.10.2 (37) and the Python programming language v.2.7 (38).
