Genomic DNA was extracted from leaf tissue of putative transgenic lines using a modified protocol (59). Genomic DNA (10 μg) was digested with restriction enzymes, Hind III and Xba I, and prepared for Southern blotting as described previously (17). Digoxigenin (DIG)–labeled probe targeting hptII was used to confirm stable integration of T-DNA in the plant genome.
