We are excited to announce a new partnership with Cell Research, a top-tier journal in the field of cell biology. For Cell Research papers that involve a method that would benefit from the publication of a step-by-step protocol, authors of the articles will now be recommended to publish a detailed version of their methods in Bio-protocol.

We are excited to announce that Dr. Caroline Shamu succeeds Dr. Jeffrey M. Milush to be the Editor-in-Chief of Bio-protocol, effective January 1st, 2021. Dr. Shamu is an Assistant Professor at Harvard Medical School, Harvard Medical School Associate Dean for Research Cores and Technology, and Faculty Director of the ICCB- Longwood Screening Facility. As Editor-in-Chief, Dr. Shamu will work to sustain and advance Bio-protocol, enhance the reputation of the journal, and work with life science researchers, in particular early-career researchers, and partner journals, to facilitate sharing of high-quality, reproducible methods. We are excited to have Caroline in the position to take Bio-protocol to new heights.

The American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), the nonprofit publisher of the Science family of journals, announces a four-year collaboration with Bio-protocol.  We are very proud to be a strategic partner of Science/AAAS and work together to improve the rigor and reproducibility of research.

We are very pleased about being included in the ESCI because not only will this help more researchers find our high-quality, reliable protocol manuscripts, but it will reward our authors as well. Bio-protocols will have increased visibility in the scientific community because journals indexed in the ESCI can be discovered through the Web of Science in an identical way to other journals indexed by the Web of Science. For authors, Bio-protocol manuscripts will be included in the calculation of their h-index in the Web of Science.

We are thrilled to announce that Dr. Jeffrey Milush has been appointed Editor-in-Chief of Bio-protocol, effective on Dec 1, 2018. Dr. Milush is an Associate Professor in the Department of Medicine at University of California San Francisco, as well as the Director of the Core Immunology Laboratory and the Flow Cytometry Core. Welcome!
Dr. Milush succeeds Dr. Marielle Cavrois who served as EIC for the past 2.5 years. We thank Dr. Cavrois for the dedication, passion, and energy she devoted to Bio-protocol. We wish her the best of luck for the next chapter in her career.

We have officially launched Bio-101. Bio-101 is a curated database of basic protocols that are commonly used in life science research.

We are excited to announce our partnership with the Journal of Neuroscience.
The Journal of Neuroscience's Post-Publication information now includes a section that encourages authors to submit a step-by-step protocol for one of their methods to Bio-protocol.

Bio-protocol has launched a new look and design. We hope that this makes it even easier for you to find relevant protocols.

We are excited to announce that we have published our first protocol as part of our collaboration with Plant Physiology. It is part of a Focus Collection on Stomata. Plant Physiology articles with a Bio-protocol have a section titled "PROTOCOLS" in the supplemental data, read the first manuscript here.

Bio-protocol is mentioned by Ian Baldwin in his iBiology video on Making Scientific Writing Painless. It is part of iBiology's professional development series which has a lot of great videos.

In April the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Biological Chemistry (JBC)  communicated JBC's mission to facilitate scientific discovery. JBC wants to create living publications that better serve the needs of scientists. Toward these ends, they have partnered with Bio-protocol. JBC's Instructions for Authors now includes a section that encourages authors to submit a detailed report of one of their methods to Bio-protocol.

We have partnered with The Journal of Cell Biology (JCB). In JCB’s 2015 editorial on Reproducibility and Cell Biology by Yamada and Hall, the authors discuss Best practices for Cell Biology research. The first item they list as a best practice is to "Provide complete methodology."
JCB's Author Submission Guidelines encourage authors to submit a detailed report of one of their methods to Bio-protocol.

We have partnered with ASCB's journal Molecular Biology of the Cell. In 2016 Schwarzbauer et al. communicated MBoC's commitment to scientific reproducibility. To this end, the Protocol Development section of MBoC's Instructions for authors encourages authors to submit a detailed protocol used in their MBoC study to Bio-protocol.

We proudly announce our collaboration with eLife. One of the reasons this partnership is such a great match is that eLife aims to improve all aspects of research communication and Bio-protocol curates detailed, clear, step-by-step methods. eLife's Instructions for Authors now include a section that encourages authors to submit a detailed report of one of their methods to Bio-protocol.

We proudly introduce Dr. Marielle Cavrois as Bio-protocol's new Editor-in-Chief. Dr. Cavrois directs the Flow Cytometry Core at the Gladstone Institutes where her research focuses on HIV transmission.

Bio-protocol is very excited to announce that Dr. Vivian Siegel has joined our team as a Senior Editorial Advisor. Dr. Siegel, a former Editor-in-Chief of Cell, is experienced in scientific publishing and has been involved in the launch of Cell press journals (e.g. Molecular Cell and Cancer Cell) as well as PLoS (Public Library of Science) journals (e.g. PLoS Biology and PLoS Medicine).
